Description:

This is a three day course with a certificate of completion and a source workbook. It is based on the theoretical work of Joan Kellogg, M.A., ATR,

as a result of her extensive experience and research using the mandala, or

circle drawing in her private practice as well as in her clinical work at the Maryland Psychiatric Research Center during the 1970’s with Dr. Stanley

Grof.

The mandala is a circular drawing, well known by Jungians as an indicator of internal processes. Jung referred to it as a “cryptogram (coded message) concerning the state of the self”. This mandala course has been designed incorporating concepts from psychosocial, physiological, and spiritual perspectives reflected in thirteen Archetypal Stages in the Great Round of the Mandala, a theory developed by Kellogg. She incorporated states of consciousness research with Jungian theory and cross-cultural studies to develop this system based on form, color, and symbol for understanding patterns and shapes in the images seen in mandala drawings. The Great Round represents a map of the development of human consciousness and each stage represents a part of this process from pre-birth to life, death and re-birth, or the life cycle which can be applied to all cycles.

This course is valuable and informative for practitioners and researchers in the fields of mental health, art and expressive therapies, pastoral and spiritual counseling, as well as for personal use and interest in the subject.
