Committee decisions are final, in any given year, on the numbers and dollar-totals of grants awarded in any given year. On request, however, the Committee will provide written feedback and recommendations for rework and resubmission the following year.
Candidates might consider projects that address an "unheard voice" - perhaps a client's voice, an art therapist's voice, even the voice of a particular community or issue. Projects might investigate why the voice is unheard and how it might be made audible.
For example, a proposed project might be a video, film, or a drama script that explores the relationship between art therapy and its effectiveness with a minority population; it might be a website that provides opportunity for broadening options in cultural awareness/ cultural competency; it might be a book or journal article that centers on art therapy with a specific population.
Successful proposals will include thoughtful recommendations for publishing and/or exposure of the work's results, where they might have maximum benefits for the art therapy community and the communities and clients it serves.
